Seedly Communities vs Whop
Your community. Your stack.
Whop has no monthly platform bill and lists 2.7% plus $0.30 for a standard domestic card transaction. Additional fees can apply for international cards, currency conversion, or other services. Seedly Communities runs your paid community through your own Stripe account, for $399 once. Your payment and infrastructure providers still set their own policies.

THE HONEST VERSION
Managed checkout or your own stack.
Whop's model has real appeal, and we will not pretend otherwise. Zero dollars a month, marketplace distribution, a slick checkout, and a genuinely solid public API. For getting a paid Discord or a digital product live this afternoon, it works.
Whop combines checkout, marketplace distribution, and creator tools in one hosted service. Seedly takes a different route: you connect your own Stripe account and run the community software in your own infrastructure accounts. Both payment options remain subject to processor risk policies.
Seedly does not collect a platform fee or control your Stripe account. Members pay through your own Stripe account, on your own payout schedule, with a 0% platform fee.

THE REAL THING
See the software.

Transaction pricing or source ownership.
Whop lists 2.7% plus $0.30 for a standard domestic card transaction and no monthly charge. At $2,000 a month in domestic card sales, the percentage portion is $648 a year, or $3,240 over five years, before the $0.30 per-transaction amount or any other applicable fees.
Seedly costs $399 once plus your own hosting and Stripe processing. Compare the current Stripe rate for your account with Whop's rate and the value of Whop's hosted checkout and marketplace.
Add your own hosting on Convex and Vercel, free tiers to start. If you buy Seedly CRM in the same order, the community platform add-on is $249.
Control and convenience.
Whop gives you a fast managed checkout and marketplace. Seedly gives you the community source and direct control of the connected Stripe account. Both approaches carry payment processing costs and provider policies.
There is also marketplace gravity to consider. If marketplace discovery matters, Whop has an advantage. If your domain and database are the priority, Seedly gives you direct control of those pieces.
Getting out of Whop, honestly.
Credit where due, Whop's export story is real. Its API and dashboard let you pull your members and their emails, which is more than most rental platforms allow. Use it.
Export the member list, invite everyone through Seedly's invite links and email invites, stand up your tiers on your own Stripe, and run both in parallel while subscriptions re-anchor with fresh opt-ins. No importer exists on our side.
When Whop is the right call.
If you want marketplace discovery, zero dollars upfront, and managed checkout, Whop is a strong fit. Its public API is also broader than ours today, and that is worth saying plainly.
Seedly is for sellers who already have an audience and want the asset, not the aisle.
